I can't even begin to play on this right now because EVERY time I start to investigate apps I look up and discover that hours have gone by. I have an iphone and use apps all the time. The ones I've discovered this summer that I think are going to be used immediately are Dragon Dictation. This app requires a microphone (and we have some). Students speak into the app and it 'writes' and reads back

I'm playing with Jing...Here is one of my most favorite of all time pictures of Brandon. He was 8 or 9 years old and a real cowboy! His horse, Honey, is out to pasture but still living. I'm preparing a presentation for the elementary principals in August - Primary Literacy Program...with a focus on Guided Reading. My favorite wiki was from a group of 2nd graders in California...Ms. Ibrahim's Wiki - 2nd graders in California On her wiki students are keeping electronic portfolios, working on elaborating sentences (you could see the previous versions and what they had added), doing math problems, and lots of fun interactive things. Crested Butte, Colorado is the best place to celebrate the 4th. The morning started with the Firemen's Pancake Breakfast upstairs at the firehouse, the parade down Elk Avenue, a street fair, an afternoon concert on the mountain and ... fireworks. I've rediscovered the fun of skiing on soft snow on a warm sunny Spring day in Crested Butte. We had so much fun today. What a heavenly day! The temperature started out at -11 before sunrise and quickly warmed up to 7! I skied all morning and ran into Brandon at the top of a lift. His students were happy to let him stop and take a picture with mom. You know the students never think the teachers are real people...with a mom even!!!

What a fun day we had last Friday at MWE. We kicked off Field Day with an Olympic flag parade. Kids made tissue paper flags of over 25 different countries in art and the class flag bearers carried them at the front of each class in our parade. We also had the Texas and MWE flags. The whole school paraded around the track. The StuCo pres was our torch bearer and declared "Let the games begin"

I'm looking forward to the next 5 school days. Teachers have planned fun, engaging activities to keep students focused on learning as they anticipate the winter holidays.
